Stadium
Estadio 9 de Julio
Formerly: El Coloso
In Rafaela, everyone still calls it El Coloso . That plaque now reads Germán Soltermann, after the coach and honorary club president whose name the ground carries.
Floodlight towers went up in 1947, and the concrete stand that shapes the ground today began taking form around 1949, well before the rebuild that gave Rafaela the stadium it uses now.
Ownership sits with the club itself rather than the municipality. Beyond 9 de Julio's own fixtures in Torneo Federal A and Torneo Regional Amateur, the ground hosts sides from the Liga Rafaelina de Fútbol — Ben Hur, Ferro and Sportivo Norte among them — and stages the Copa Departamento Castellanos.
