Estádio Alberto Galiardo
Recife, Peru
Formerly: not found
Recife's football landscape runs largely through three names that dwarf this ground: the Arena Pernambuco, built for the 2013 season and holding close to 46,000; the Estádio dos Aflitos, standing since 1939 with room for around 22,000; and the Estádio Ilha do Retiro, dating back to 1937. Against that scale, the Estádio Alberto Galiardo sits at the other end of things, listed at a little over ten thousand seats.
Records for the ground itself are thin. No opening date, playing surface or address travels with the name, and no club is currently attached to it as a home venue. What comes through clearly is its place in the pecking order of a city where the big three grounds absorb the crowds, the derbies and the history, leaving a venue of this size to go about its business well away from that spotlight.
