Stadium
Estádio Alfredo Schürig (Fazendinha)
São Paulo, Brazil
Formerly: Parque São Jorge, Fazendinha
That shift looks stranger against the record still in the books.
The name itself repays a debt. Built between 1926 and 1928 and opened on 22 July 1928 with a 2-2 draw against América of Rio de Janeiro, the ground carried its original name, Parque São Jorge, until 1933, when Corinthians renamed it for Alfredo Schürig, the former club president who had paid for the stands and supplied the building materials.
Its one turn on a wider stage came in 1963, when it hosted football at the Pan American Games. A cosmetic restoration marked its ninetieth anniversary in 2018.
