Corinthians U17

Marquinhos came through this academy and left it in 2011 on his way to a place in Brazil's back line; the Sub-17 side he graduated from still trains and plays out of Parque São Jorge, in the Tatuapé district of São Paulo.

Home matches are played at Estádio Alfredo Schürig, known inside the club simply as Fazendinha, which holds around 18,500 and is set aside for the base categories and the women's team; day-to-day training happens across town, at CT Joaquim Grava.

Corinthians itself was founded on 1 September 1910 in the Bom Retiro district, by a group of workers taken with the English club Corinthian FC; the black-and-white colours the Sub-17 side wears today had settled into place within the following decade. Titles at state level go back to 1964, and by 2023 the Sub-17 side had collected nine Campeonato Paulista crowns. The one trophy beyond that came in 2016, when Corinthians beat Sport Recife in the final of the Copa do Brasil Sub-17; a Brazilian Sub-17 championship has stayed out of reach, the closest a runner-up finish in 2019, lost to Flamengo. Against Palmeiras, even at this level, the fixture keeps its old name: Derby Paulista.

Fagner made the same walk out of the academy years earlier, in 2006, before he too settled into the Brazil defence — the departure this Sub-17 side still measures itself against.
