About

The Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol Sub-17 represents the premier national youth football competition for under-17 players in Brazil. Organized by the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF), it occupies the highest position within the national youth pyramid. Participation is strictly governed by the CBF's National Club Ranking, meaning there is no system of promotion or relegation for the participating teams.

Twenty clubs contest the title each season, split into two groups of ten. The group stage follows a single round-robin format, known as a turno único. Once this phase concludes, the top four teams from each group progress to the knockout stage. These later stages involve two-legged home-and-away ties for the quarter-finals and semi-finals. The competition culminates in a single final match, with a penalty shootout used to determine the winner if the score remains level after regular time.

The tournament began in 2012, originally organized by the Federação Gaúcha de Futebol (FGF), before the CBF assumed control in 2019 following a hiatus. While Flamengo, Fluminense, and Palmeiras have each secured two titles, Atlético Mineiro claimed the most recent edition in 2025. This league operates without a commercial sponsor in its official name, distinguishing it from the senior Brasileirão. It serves as the primary developmental pathway for the youngest elite category in Brazilian football, separate from the Copa do Brasil Sub-20 and the Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-23.
