Athletico PR U17

In Curitiba, the fixture that matters most is Athletiba, the derby against Coritiba, and Athletico Paranaense's Sub-17 side has settled it on the biggest of stages.

That state competition, the Campeonato Paranaense Sub-17, is where the age group has built its record, with titles stretching from 2017 through to 2026. Nationally the side has gone further only once: in the Copa do Brasil Sub-17, it beat Atlético Mineiro in the 2026 final after twice finishing runner-up, in 2022 and 2023. The match finished 2-2 and went to penalties, which Athletico won 4-3. In the Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-17, the closest it has come is a second-place finish in 2020.

The academy behind this age group has sent players up through the club's ranks, among them defender Leo Derick, who went on to earn call-ups to Brazil's under-20 side. The senior team plays out of Arena da Baixada, officially named Estádio Mário Celso Petraglia, in the red, black and white that gave the club its Hurricane nickname.

Records of the age group's own founding have not survived, but the shirt has been on the pitch competing for the state title since at least 2015.
