Cruzeiro U17

In the 2021 Copa do Brasil Sub-17, Cruzeiro U17 beat Maranhão 7-1 in the quarter-final and carried that form into the semi-final. Neither that competition nor the Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-17 has produced a title for the age group since.

The team sits inside Cruzeiro Esporte Clube rather than standing apart from it. The parent club was founded on 2 January 1921 in Belo Horizonte, first under the name Societá Sportiva Palestra Itália, and took the Cruzeiro name in 1965. Cruzeiro U17 has no separate founding date or badge of its own: it plays under the same crest, the same blue and white.

Its players train at the Toca da Raposa, and squads that come up through the academy there are sometimes called, informally, Crias da Toca. Matches are generally played at Estádio Municipal Castor Cifuentes, also known as Alçapão do Bonfim, in Nova Lima.

Two of the academy's better-known graduates played the same position: Alisson Becker and Ederson both came through Cruzeiro's youth categories as goalkeepers before becoming first-choice at Liverpool and Manchester City.

The fixed date on the calendar is Atlético Mineiro. Matches between the two are known as the Clássico Mineiro, one of the more heated derbies in Brazilian football at any age level, and the sides met again in June 2026, when Cruzeiro U17 won 3-1 in the Brasileirão U17.
