The pitch stays natural grass, a certified Bermuda variety oversown with ryegrass through the cooler months to keep it holding up under Belo Horizonte's winter. Minas Arena , the consortium running the ground under a public-private partnership signed in 2010, has floated switching to a hybrid surface ahead of the 2027 Women's World Cup, at FIFA's request, though nothing has moved yet — for now the grass is still just grass.
Ownership sits with the state of Minas Gerais, not with either club, which is part of why the arrangement with two tenants held together as long as it did.
