Flamengo RJ U17

On 8 February 2019, a fire tore through the dormitory at the Ninho do Urubu training complex in the small hours and killed ten academy players, aged between 14 and 17. The disaster forced Flamengo's youth setup into new housing ahead of schedule and led to a formal safety agreement, the TAC, signed with the city authorities.

The under-17 side draws its players from the same academy that had already produced Zico, Adriano, Vinícius Júnior, Lucas Paquetá, Reinier and João Gomes, and its results still track the swings of that pipeline. Between 2018 and 2021 the group won the Copa do Brasil Sub-17 twice, the Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-17 twice and the Supercopa do Brasil Sub-17 once. Since then it has come up short: between 2022 and 2025 the national league and cup titles passed to Palmeiras, Fluminense, Atlético Mineiro and Vasco da Gama, and Flamengo lifted neither again.

Home matches are played at the Estádio José Bastos Padilha in Gávea, which holds 6,000; since April 2026 part of the fixture list has shifted to Campo 6 at Ninho do Urubu, a training pitch without stands, while a new ground is being built on the same site for a planned 2027 opening. The Fla-Flu rivalry runs down to this level too: Fluminense's 1-0 win in the 2026 championship was reported as the age group's first clássico of the season. Locally the record holds — the Campeonato Carioca Sub-17 has gone to Flamengo 19 times, most recently in 2024.
