Cotia sits in the metropolitan sprawl west of São Paulo, and the reason its name shows up in Brazilian football is a training ground rather than a stadium: CFA Laudo Natel, opened on 16 July 2005, is where São Paulo FC raises the players it eventually sends out onto Morumbi's pitch. The Sub-17 side plays its home games there too, in front of no more than 1,500 people, at a venue also known as Estádio Marcelo Portugal Gouvêa — a modest ground for a factory that has turned out Cafu, Rogério Ceni, Denílson, Kaká, Casemiro, Lucas Moura, Éder Militão and Alex Sandro.

That production line is what the shirt is worth here, more than any trophy the age group has collected. In the Copa do Brasil Sub-17 the team beat Flamengo in 2013 and Fluminense in 2020 to lift the title twice, and it reached the final of the Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-17 in 2023, losing to Palmeiras, with two more bronze finishes in 2020 and 2021. Flamengo, Corinthians, Atlético Mineiro, Vasco da Gama and Fluminense remain the sides it measures itself against year after year.

The bench changes often at this level. For the 2024–25 cycle it was handed to Mário Ramalho, nephew of the club's former coach Muricy Ramalho, who took over from Menta. In November 2025, three of his players — Gustavo Zabarelli, Robert William and Kauã Daniel — trained with the first team under Hernán Crespo, the kind of session that decides whether a Cotia graduate becomes a name or stays a squad number.

São Paulo itself carries the nickname Bambi, given to the club by former player Vampeta in the 1990s over the pink smoke its fans once let off — a tag that belongs to the whole institution, not to any one of its youth sides.

1,500 seats hold a stadium that has helped fill Morumbi for two decades.
