Two stadiums carry the Veraguas United name, and this is the smaller of the pair — the one in Atalaya itself, not the Estadio Aristóclides Tocó Castillo across the province in Santiago. The club splits its home fixtures between them, which means a ground with room for 350 people sometimes hosts top-flight football while its bigger sibling takes the rest.

The venue's official name, Complejo Deportivo Rafael Rodríguez, still shows up in older listings, a reminder that the ground served the corregimiento long before it carried a league franchise. Atalaya itself gives the stadium its name in the most literal way: the word means watchtower or lookout post in Spanish, tied to the settlement rather than to anything beyond it.

Little separates this ground from dozens of others built to the same modest brief across Veraguas — an artificial surface laid over what would otherwise be a training pitch, sized for a corregimiento capital rather than a provincial capital. UMECIT also lists it as a home venue, splitting the calendar between two Panamanian second-tier or top-flight sides that both need somewhere to play on non-Santiago weeks.

No record marks when it opened, and nothing suggests it was built for anything grander than local use. What keeps it relevant is the arrangement around it: a shared-tenancy setup between two clubs and two towns, with Atalaya's own ground filling the gaps in a fixture list otherwise anchored forty-odd kilometres away.
