UMECIT

Match report

Umexit and Arabe Unido played out a goalless draw in the Panama League's Apertura round three on Saturday evening. The match ended 0:0 at the home ground, with neither side able to find a breakthrough despite a penalty miss early on. It was a result that keeps both teams in reasonable position, though the points distribution matters differently for each side.

R. Burgess found himself at the centre of things from the start, missing a penalty at the fourth minute. To be fair, the home side didn't let the miss derail them entirely, though Burgess did pick up a yellow card himself at the thirty-third minute alongside a teammate. By then the tone had been set for a physical encounter.

Arabe Unido came at the game with more intent, registering 101 attacks against 97 and earning seven corners to two. They also managed one shot on target, though it wasn't enough to trouble the goalkeeper. Umexit's possession sat at forty percent, but the numbers don't tell the whole story of how the game played out.

The second half brought more substitutions and more cautions, with O. Reefer, A. Edwards and G. Chara all seeing yellow. Umexit brought on L. Valencia and R. Burgess at the break, while Arabe Unido made four changes across the evening. The game never really settled into a rhythm.

After sixteen games Umexit sit third on twenty-five points with six wins and seven draws. Arabe Unido are fifth on twenty-one points, three wins behind and two more defeats than their hosts. The draw extends both sides' recent unconvincing form, though it doesn't change the standings dramatically.
