Two rivalries pull at Tauro FC from different directions. One is settled in Panama City itself, against CD Plaza Amador , and carries the name El Clásico Nacional. The other, against Deportivo Árabe Unido , comes from a different province and from the number of times the two have met with a title on the line — enough for some to call that fixture the real classic. San Francisco FC makes a third.
The club grew out of a leather works. Giancarlo Gronchi, who owned the factory, put the side together in September 1984 and dressed it in black and white after Juventus. It played corporate football first. In 1988 it became one of the founders of ANAPROF, the country's first professional league, and in 1989 it won the competition's opening championship.
Seventeen national titles have followed since, the most recent in the Apertura of 2024. The Supercopa de Panamá has come once.
Home is the Estadio Rommel Fernández in Pedregal, which holds 32,000.
Luis Tejada left the deepest mark: captain of the national team, its leading scorer with 43 goals, a player at the 2018 World Cup. Felipe Baloy played for Tauro between 2016 and 2018.
