The club traces itself to 2 March 1963, when twelve young players who had represented Panama at the first CONCACAF youth championship formed a team of their own. That makes Alianza the second-oldest side in the country's modern football setup. What it did not have, for most of its history, was a settled home. In the mid-1990s the team played out of Chilibre at a 1,500-seat ground called Camping Resort; a move in the mid-2000s cost the club a chunk of its following. Since 2012 it has used the Luis Cascarita Tapia stadium in Juan Díaz, though the venue registered as its official ground is the Estadio Javier Cruz, which holds just 700 people — too few for a home fixture of any size, so Alianza rents out the Estadio Rommel Fernández or the Estadio Maracaná when the occasion demands it.
Supporters know the team in white and green as Los Pericos — the Parrots. Then, in 2022, Alianza won the Apertura, its first championship since forming in 1963. The following year the club reached the Clausura final and lost it to Tauro. Sesar "El Bombo" Medina has scored more goals for Alianza than anyone else in its history and was still on the books in 2024.
59 years passed between the club's founding and its first league title.
