Herrera FC is still short of the trophies to make this a proper rivalry, but the fixture already carries more heat than the table between them explains.
The club itself did not start as a football project in the usual sense. It was founded in 2005 by the construction workers' union SUNTRACS in Santiago de Veraguas, playing under the union's name before a 2019 rebrand to Veraguas Fútbol Club and then Veraguas Club Deportivo. In 2022 a separate entity, Veraguas United FC, was set up and took its place in the league — the same city, the same stadium, a new registration.
That stadium is the Estadio Arístocles "Toco" Castillo, rebuilt in 2025 to hold 3,000: 2,700 seats in the stands plus 32 boxes for 300 more. The team plays in white and carries the nickname Los Indios de Urracá.
The one season that still gets mentioned is 2010, when the club won the Copa Rommel Fernández and earned promotion to the top flight, then reached the final again the following year and lost it. A Clausura title in the Liga Nacional de Ascenso followed in 2014, with a runner-up finish in the promotion playoff the year after.
