Estadio BBVA
The pitch under the Estadio BBVA changed twice before a ball had even been kicked on it for a World Cup. From 2015 the club played on natural grass reinforced by GrassMaster fibres; in 2025, with the tournament on the horizon, that surface was pulled up and replaced with a 97 per cent natural, 3 per cent synthetic hybrid.
The ground opened on 2 August 2015 with a pyrotechnic display and a friendly against Benfica for the Eusébio Cup, which Monterrey won 3-0 in front of a crowd over 50,000. It carried the Bancomer name until 10 June 2019, when a global rebrand stripped it back to Estadio BBVA.
Its attendance record belongs not to the men's side but to the women's game: 51,211 turned out on 4 May 2018 for the Clausura final between Rayadas and Tigres Femenil, a figure that stood as a world record for a club women's football match. Off the pitch, the stadium has drawn arena-scale music crowds too — Coldplay in March 2022, Bad Bunny across two nights that December, The Weeknd in September 2023, Paul McCartney in 2024.
It sits among the venues confirmed for the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
