Estadio Carlos Alvarado
Santa Bárbara, Costa Rica
Formerly: Estadio Municipal Carlos Alvarado Villalobos, El Rosabalito
What stands in Barrio Tropezón today opened in 2000, seven years after work began.
The stadium most people know now is the one that came out of the 2023–24 rebuild. Club Sport Herediano moved in as tenants once the work finished, using it as a stand-in home while their own ground, Rosabal Cordero, is rebuilt.
Herediano also used it for a pre-Concacaf Copa Centroamericana friendly against Alajuelense that finished 1-1, and hosted Mexico's Tepatitlán FC.
Not every story from Tropezón is about the football. In August 2025 a Carlos Vives and Fonseca concert nearby snarled traffic so badly that Municipal Pérez Zeledón turned up late for their away fixture against Herediano, and Alajuelense have complained more than once about the height of the goalposts here.
