Estádio Coaracy Fonseca
Arapiraca, Brazil
Formerly: Poeirão
The ground known as Fumeirão opened on 5 August 1953, financed by Dr. Coaracy da Mata Fonseca, who served as the city’s mayor at the time. That changed in 1976-1977. The old earth was replaced by grass, concrete seating was installed, and lighting was added. The reinauguration followed on 29 October 1977.
The pitch is natural grass, maintained for domestic competition. The current official capacity is listed as 12,000, though some sources cite 17,000. A further renovation in 2010 expanded the west stand and added new press boxes.
The stadium is the home of Agremiação Sportiva Arapiraquense (ASA). It is a functional space for local football, though the name 'Poeirão' remains in the memory of older fans who remember the dust. The current name, Estádio Municipal Coaracy da Mata Fonseca, honours the man who built it.
