Estádio Coronel Afonso Moura de Castro

Itabirito's football home fits inside a former mill compound: the address on the club's own site places it right off R. José Felipe da Silva, in the Usina Esperança district where the works once stood. That history sits alongside the more formal name it now carries, Estádio Coronel Afonso Moura de Castro.

With room for 640 people, it plays at the scale of a local ground rather than a civic landmark. The pitch is natural grass, kept for a club, Itabirito Futebol Clube, that only came into being in 2022.

It is not the only project taking shape in town: work is under way nearby on the Arena Telê Santana, rising on the site of the old Campo do União. That is a separate build with its own story. For now, the Usina Esperança ground remains the one Itabirito actually plays on.
