Itabirito U20

No named rivalry runs alongside Itabirito's U20 side. The club sits outside the geography of Minas Gerais football's old grudges, away from Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro, and the youth games it does play carry no separate title of their own, whatever the strength of the opponent on a given weekend.

What the age group has instead is a promotion. In 2024, Itabirito's Sub-20 won the Campeonato Mineiro Sub-20 da Segunda Divisão.

The senior club, founded on 22 May 2022, built its identity a different way, recruiting experienced players who had already worn the shirts of major Brazilian and European sides. The youth setup has run too short a course for that approach to apply to it; no academy graduate has yet made the step up to a bigger club, and the age of the project explains why.

Home matches for the first team do not take place at home. Estádio Coronel Afonso Moura de Castro, in Itabirito itself, holds 640 people, well short of what the Minas Gerais football federation asks of clubs in its top division and what the CBF asks for national competitions such as Série D. Itabirito plays instead at Arena Independência in Belo Horizonte, ground shared with América Mineiro, or at other venues that meet the required standard.

No academy product has broken through to a senior stage anywhere else, and for a team that only reached the top flight of its own age group in 2025, that step still lies ahead.
