Estadio de Chacarita Juniors

Chacarita Juniors pulled the whole ground down and started again. The original stadium opened on 8 July 1945, designed by José Ripolli, and the club marked the day with a friendly against Uruguay's River Plate, won 1-0. Locals came to call it El Templo. Decades later the structure was demolished entirely and rebuilt from scratch, reopening on 30 January 2011 with a fresh design credited to Ripolli again, this time alongside Sergio Albarracín. The provincial governor, Daniel Scioli, attended the reopening, and Chacarita marked it with a goalless friendly against Argentinos Juniors.

The ground sits on Calle Gutiérrez in Villa Maipú, within the municipality of General San Martín, on the edge of Buenos Aires. It plays on natural grass and has never carried a sponsor's name — it has always been simply the Estadio de Chacarita Juniors.

Capacity figures vary depending on where one looks, a legacy of the 2011 rebuild, when planners spoke of a ground built to eventually hold 35,000. What actually opened proved smaller. The stadium has not hosted a national team fixture or an international final, and no attendance record from its years in Villa Maipú appears to have been kept — the only crowd figures on file belong to the opening days themselves, 13,260 in 2011 and, back in 1932, 25,000 at the old ground the club had before it moved here.
