Estádio Elzir Cabral
Fortaleza, Brazil
Formerly: Vila Olímpica Elzir Cabral
The ground sits in the Barra do Ceará neighbourhood. It is not a landmark in the way Arena Castelão is, but it holds its own space. The pitch is natural grass, 105 by 68 metres, and the line work is sharp.
Red and white tiles line the rows.
Ferroviário Atlético Clube call this home, and the name Elzir Cabral is painted on the buildings. The club opened the ground in 1989, and it remains one of the few private stadiums in the state of Ceará to have received official recognition from the Brazilian Football Confederation. Capacity figures vary depending on who is counting, but the number 4,200 is the one most often used.
Night matches have been possible since 2008, when the lighting system was upgraded through a fan-funded project. Occasionally a swarm of bees forces a game to be postponed, but the ground remains in use for state championships and lower division national competitions.
