Estádio Francisco Novelletto Neto (Passo D'Areia)
Porto Alegre, Brazil
Formerly: Estádio Passo D'Areia, Estádio do Zequinha
The ground sits at the edge of the Santa Maria Goretti district. Estádio Francisco Novelletto Neto opened on 24 March 1940, though the club and the city have never quite lost the habit of calling it Estádio Passo D'Areia. The name Estádio do Zequinha remains the one most often heard in the streets.
The pitch is the reason for the building. In May 2025, São José spent approximately R$ 3.8 million to replace the artificial surface with a Hycork Turf hybrid system.
Capacity is listed at 10,600, though the terraces once held closer to 16,000. The attendance record of 5,920 for a 1982 match between Grêmio and São José sits quietly in the archives. In January 2025, a safety permit suspension forced São José to host Internacional at Estádio do Vale in Novo Hamburgo.
Between the sporting fixtures, the stadium has hosted R.E.M. in 2008, Pearl Jam in 2009, and Elton John in 2013.
