Its present shape comes from the Кубок Америки 2004. The rebuild took capacity from roughly 22,000 to the current 42,056 and brought in a new lighting system.

A second, more troubled programme followed. The stadium closed in 2013 and reopened only partially in mid-2014, capacity down to 14,000 while new seating, executive boxes and a reworked façade went in. Costed first at 52 million soles, then 60 million for the opening stage, the project was never finished; a further 5 million soles arrived in 2016. Work resumed piecemeal in 2018, when roofing went over blocks A, B and C of the Occidente stand, along with press cabins, changing rooms and an anti-doping laboratory. LED floodlights followed in 2020.

Artificial turf was laid in 2013 and lasted only briefly — players and supporters preferred grass, and grass returned.
