Stadium
Estadio General San Martín
The story of the Estadio General San Martín is really the story of a striker who left. At the end of 1951, Huracán Las Heras sold Medardo Sosa to Lanús for 97,000 pesos, and the club put that money straight into building its own ground. The stadium opened on 8 June 1952 with a match against Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza, a date that had originally been set for earlier in the week but was pushed back by bad weather.
The name itself has never changed since the opening in 1952.
More recent work has been about upkeep rather than reinvention. Under club president Rafael Giardini, 2013 brought a new irrigation system and repairs to the dressing rooms.
