Stadium
Estádio Independência
Formerly: Estádio Independência, Arena Independência
América Futebol Clube bought Estádio Independência in 1997, in a deal that came bundled with the club Sete de Setembro.
What stands now is not the arena that opened in June 1950. Missyor Arquitetos handled the reconstruction.
The original ground was built for the 1950 World Cup, between 1947 and the opening match on 25 June, and it hosted three group games. The second of them, on 29 June, was the United States beating England 1-0. Uruguay put eight past Bolivia there on 2 July.
Post-reconstruction, the best is 22,654, set in 2018.
Between 2012 and 2023, while the Mineirão was being rebuilt, Atlético Mineiro played there regularly too.
