Estadio José Pachencho Romero

The Estadio José Encarnación "Pachencho" Romero sits in the Chiquinquirá Parish of Maracaibo. Opened on August 17, 1968, it was constructed on the site of the former Gran Roque de Oro airport to host the 1970 Venezuelan National Sports Games. The ground was originally part of a complex known as Estadios Deportivos before being officially renamed on December 12, 1974, when the city honoured the local athlete José Encarnación "Pachencho" Romero. The stadium saw major renovations for the 1998 Central American and Caribbean Games and was significantly rebuilt for the 2007 Copa América, a tournament where it hosted the final and semi-finals. A rehabilitation in 2021 renewed seating and lighting. The capacity is 40,800, and the pitch is natural Paspalum grass. The highest recorded attendance was 36,000 for a 2017 Copa Libertadores match between Zulia FC and Chapecoense. It is the home ground of Zulia FC and Deportivo Rayo Zuliano.
