The ground on Calle Jujuy was put up a piece at a time. Building began in 1948 with money from Juan Domingo Perón's government, but by the opening on 15 August 1951 only the upper stand along Jujuy was standing. The home side beat Racing Club 4-1 in front of it.
Everything else arrived in instalments. Floodlights went in on 27 December 1957. The Preferencial stand followed on the western side in 1960, the Popular Sur in 1973, the Tribuna Alta Norte in 1978. In 1982 the perimeter fence was completed, plastic seats went in and the northern end was finished off; in 1995 a codo was built to close the gap between stands. VIP boxes opened in 2005, and the lighting and safety systems were reworked ahead of the club's centenary in 2018.
The name changed only once. From 1951 it was the Estadio Juan Domingo Perón ; in 2024 Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba, which has owned and run the ground since the first day, renamed it the Estadio Monumental Presidente Perón . Locally it stays the Monumental de Alta Córdoba.
Tan Biónica drew more than 27,000 here in March 2024.
