«La Gloria»
Three clubs share Córdoba, and all three meetings carry the name Clásico cordobés . For Instituto supporters the one that matters is Talleres. In a city where the football map has been divided the same way for a century, the derby is less an event than the permanent condition.
The club's standing in that argument was built early. Instituto took the Córdoba provincial first division in 1925, 1926, 1927 and 1928 — four in a row — and the nickname La Gloria dates from those years. It has stuck ever since.
Provincial titles kept coming, nine in all, the most recent in 2017. The national record is narrower: two Primera B Nacional championships, in 1998–99 and 2003–04, and no Argentine cup.
The odd wrinkle is that the trophy the institution won most recently came from a different court. Its basketball side took the Liga Nacional de Básquet in 2021–22 and the Liga Sudamericana the following year.
One more quirk sits in the name itself: there is no Club in the official title, which is why in Córdoba it is simply El Instituto .
