Estadio Municipal de Huamachuco

The Estadio Municipal de Huamachuco is located in the highlands of La Libertad. It is a ground in Peru. The change came in 2024, when Deportivo Llacuabamba arrived from Lima and Otuzco. They brought the pressure of Liga 2 to a place that had only seen the lower tiers of the Copa Perú. The arrival meant the first professional match was played under floodlights, a shift in the rhythm of the town. Racing de Huamachuco continues to use the venue for its own regional battles, keeping the football tradition alive alongside the new arrivals.

There is little history recorded in the brickwork. No official renaming has taken place, despite a proposal in 2022 to honour local player Christian Cueva, which he declined. The capacity is fixed at 5,000, a modest number that fits the provincial setting. The surface is artificial, a practical choice for the altitude and the wear caused by the changing seasons of use. The exact date of its construction remains absent from the archives, leaving the stadium to speak only for what it hosts today rather than when it was built.

Unlike the grand arenas of Lima or Arequipa, there are no legends of record crowds or historic finals etched into stone. The stadium is simply a place where the game is played, where the wind cuts through the stands and the players compete for a position in the national structure.
