Estádio Municipal Dr. Leonardo Guaranha
Aguaí, Brazil
Ask when the Estádio Municipal Dr. Leonardo Guaranha opened and Aguaí gives two different answers. Municipal records list 1984; the plaque fixed above the entrance reads 31 August 1986. No one locally has settled which is right, and the ground has carried on regardless of the disagreement.
It stands in the Centro district, on Rua Doutores Paulo e Rodolfo Lanzone, in a city small enough that a 1,500-seat ground counts as the main venue rather than a curiosity. The pitch is natural grass, kept up for Sport Club Aguaí, who play in the Second Division of the São Paulo state championship — a level where crowds rarely come close to testing that capacity.
It is, as far as anyone in Aguaí has recorded, the only senior football venue the city has needed.
