Estadio Municipal General San Martín

The address gives it away before the results do: Estadio Municipal General San Martín sits at Avenida Rivadavia 350, at the corner with Godoy Cruz and Pueyrredón, in the middle of Tandil, while Club y Biblioteca Ramón Santamarina holds the rights to run it and calls it home.

The opening date is one of the few things nobody can pin down exactly. What stands is a match on the pitch from late November 1954, when a combined Tandil side took on Boca Juniors and lost 3-0, whatever the ground's official birth year turns out to be.

Between 1995 and 1999 the stadium had a run well above its usual station, hosting matches at the Pan American Games, then a group of the South American under-23 qualifier for the Olympics with Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia, Paraguay and Peru sharing the pitch, and finally the South American under-20 championship. None of that traffic left the ground looking like a stadium built for it.

Work between 2016 and 2019 replaced the old perimeter fencing on the Mestelán stand with glass, fitted plastic seating, and in August 2019 added temporary stands that pushed capacity up by 800 to 900 seats. The lighting followed in 2022 and 2023: a project quoted at 11 million pesos that inflation and delays pushed to 21 million by the time the 52 new 1000-watt LED floodlights and eight smaller 500-watt units went up.
