Estádio Municipal José Maria de Campos Maia

Mirassol is a club that has spent the past few seasons climbing through Brazilian football faster than its home ground has changed, and the Estádio José Maria de Campos Maia still carries the local nickname Maião from a town that knew it long before the results did. The name honours a former mayor, but around Mirassol it is the older, plainer word that sticks.

The ground opened on 3 March 1983 with a home win over Jaleense, 2–1, and that scoreline is still the kind of detail supporters in Mirassol bring up before they mention anything else about the place. Avenida Lauro Lucheze runs past the stadium in the Nossa Senhora Aparecida district, in the northwest of São Paulo state, a fair distance from the bigger arenas the club now visits as its league status has risen.

It holds a little over 15,000, modest by the standards of the division Mirassol has been chasing, and that gap between crowd capacity and ambition is part of what defines the place. The pitch is natural grass, kept to the standard a club with growing television exposure now needs. There is no history here of hosting the national team or major finals — this has always been, first and last, Mirassol FC's own ground, built for a club rather than for an occasion.
