Estádio Municipal Walter Ribeiro
Sorocaba, Brazil
The Estádio Municipal Walter Ribeiro answers to two names in Sorocaba: the official one, honouring a journalist who died in 1975, and the one everyone actually uses, CIC, short for Centro de Integração Comunitário. It replaced the old Estádio Humberto Reale, with work starting in 1967 and the ground finally opening on 14 October 1978.
São Bento has called it home since that opening day in 1978, unbroken. Clube Atlético Sorocaba shared the ground for a quarter-century, from 1991 to 2016, before dropping out of the picture. A full reconstruction in 2005 reshaped the bowl, and as recently as 2023 the club had the pitch aerated and re-turfed.
The stadium carries a local nickname, Ninho da Garça — the heron's nest. Its competitive life runs mostly through regional finals: the Taça Cidade de Sorocaba in 2022, the Taça Bronze in 2025, and São Bento's Série C play-off ties against Confiança. It stepped outside that routine on 19 August 2023, when Ronaldinho Gaúcho turned out for a charity exhibition, the Jogo dos Famosos.
