In 2001 the club climbed out of Série A3 as champion, and it did so wearing a name barely a generation old — São Bento only settled into that identity after starting out, in 1913, as Sorocaba Athletic Club, then Sport Club São Bento the following year. The state title of 2001 opened onto two more: São Bento won the Série A2 in 2003 and again in 2005.

The under-20 side plays inside that same structure, entered in the Campeonato Paulista Sub-20 rather than run as a club of its own, training out of the Complexo Humberto Reale before match days at the Estádio Municipal Walter Ribeiro, known locally as the CIC. Azulão, the nickname the royal blue shirt earns them, still gets used for the youth sides that come up through it.

Sorocaba has two clubs worth crossing town for, and São Bento's derby against Atlético Sorocaba carries the weight of the fixture list every season, with Ituano supplying the regional rival from further along the calendar. Walter Ribeiro holds 13,722, a number the club has carried into cup nights and quieter Sub-20 afternoons alike, on a ground built for a bigger crowd than usually turns up to watch the next generation of Azulão try to earn a place in it.
