Estadio Parque Artigas

Estadio Parque Artigas takes its name from José Gervasio Artigas, the figure Uruguay regards as father of its independence, and it went up specifically for the 1995 Copa América, which Uruguay hosted. Paysandú got the ground; the tournament got a venue outside Montevideo.

There is another Parque Artigas, in Las Piedras, home to Juventud — smaller, opened seven years later, and not to be confused with this one. Paysandú's version holds 25,000, a capacity well beyond what the department's football normally draws, a legacy of building for a continental tournament rather than for the home side's average gate.

A refurbishment carried out between 2023 and 2025 fitted an automatic irrigation system, aimed squarely at keeping the natural grass in playable condition through the Uruguayan summer. The pitch, not the stands, was the priority.

It stands on Calle Dr. José Verocay in Paysandú and now serves as home ground for Paysandú F.C. and for representative sides from the department.
