The ground sits at the southern end of the Aburrá Valley, close enough to the boundary with Itagüí that the built-up sprawl of the metropolitan area runs right up to it. That placement is most of what defines the venue: it is not a stadium set apart on the edge of a town, but one folded into the southern reach of a valley that has grown around it since the doors opened in 1992.

The name has stayed put. Estadio Polideportivo Sur was the name at the reopening and it is the name now — no sponsor has bought its way onto the sign in the years since. The address, Carrera 48 at Calle 46 Sur, is the same corner locals still call by the older street name, Las Casitas.

It is home to Envigado FC, and the pitch is natural grass.

Capacity is the one figure that resists a clean answer. Different counts put the ground somewhere between eleven and fourteen thousand, and nobody publishing those numbers agrees on which stands they are counting.

No record attendance has been logged, no cup final or concert attached to the place.
