Estadio Ramon de Carranza
Cádiz, Spain
Formerly: Estadio Ramón de Carranza
The stadium in Cádiz has lived through two distinct lives. It opened on September 3, 1955, as the Estadio Ramón de Carranza, but the name was removed in 2021 following Spain’s Historical Memory Law. The ground now carries the title Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla, a reference to the original field destroyed in the 1947 Cádiz explosion, though it is equally well known by its former name.
The architecture is defined by the rebuild between 2003 and 2012. This phase cost €68 million in public funds and required the demolition of all four stands.
Inside the concourses, the colours are loud.
On the field, the surface is natural grass. The stadium is located in the city of Cádiz, in the south of Spain. It is the home of Cádiz CF. The capacity is 20,724, though the official figure was 25,033 before all-seater regulations were enforced. The highest recorded attendance was 20,325 on November 26, 2023, for a match against Real Madrid. The ground has also hosted the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship and four senior Spain national team matches.
It is a place of memory and change. The name was taken away, but the ground remains.
