Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez

The stadium stands in the Juan Díaz district of Panama City. The stands are all seated, and the playing surface is a hybrid of natural grass and synthetic fibres.

The ground was built to host the XI Central American and Caribbean Games, opening on 6 February 1970. It was first called Estadio Revolución and kept that name until 1993, when it was renamed after Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez, who died in a car accident in Spain on 6 May 1993. A major renovation between 2006 and 2010 converted it to an all-seater venue and raised the capacity to around 32,000. That version of the stadium hosted the opening ceremony of the IX Central American and Caribbean Games in 2010. A later project from late 2023 to mid-2024, carried out by Consorcio RB Rommel, brought the capacity down to 23,000 and installed the GrassMaster hybrid turf system.

Panama’s national team plays its World Cup qualifiers here, including their debut in 1978 and the 2026 qualifiers. Alianza Fútbol Club and Tauro Fútbol Club also call it home. The finals of the Liga Panameña de Fútbol have been held here, with the 1996 ANAPROF final between San Francisco F.C. and Plaza Amador drawing more than 25,000 spectators. It has hosted the 1973 Bolivarian Games, the 2003, 2011 and 2017 Copa Centroamericana finals, and the 2013 and 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship finals.
