Estádio Salvador Venâncio da Costa
Vitória, Brazil
Formerly: Ninho da Águia (informal nickname)
Long before Neymar became a household name, he played inside this ground. On 27 July 2008 it hosted the final of the first Copa Brasil Sub-17, with Santos's teenage attack of Neymar and Philippe Coutinho beaten 2-1 by Vasco da Gama, whose own line-up included another Philippe Coutinho — a coincidence that still comes up whenever the tournament is mentioned.
The ground belongs to Vitória Futebol Clube and carries the name of Salvador Venâncio da Costa, a former club president who financed its construction; supporters know it better by its nickname, Ninho da Águia — the Eagle's Nest. It opened on 2 April 1967 with a friendly against Botafogo of Rio de Janeiro, lost 1-0.
Its busiest afternoon came on 9 April 2006, when temporary stands pushed the crowd to around 7,000 for the Campeonato Capixaba final against Estrela do Norte — a 3-1 win that delivered Vitória's ninth state title and remains the highest attendance the stadium has recorded.
Away from matchdays, the Eagle's Nest also turns over to concerts and other shows, keeping it in use well beyond the football calendar.
