Estadio Santa Lucía
Artificial grass is the first thing that separates Estadio Santa Lucía from most municipal grounds in Guatemala.
The ground belongs to the municipality, not to a sponsor, and the name has never changed: Estadio Municipal Santa Lucía .
Its two biggest nights came within a few years of each other. Deportivo Malacateco reached the final of the Clausura 2019 and hosted the first leg here against Antigua GFC; in the Apertura 2021 they did it again, this time against Comunicaciones. On both occasions the ground was full, though no attendance was recorded for either match. Beyond those finals, Santa Lucía has stayed a club ground — no senior international has been played on it.
That last point is the telling one. When Malacateco qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League in 2017, they did not play at home. The club took its home legs to Estadio Pensativo in Antigua Guatemala instead.
