Estadio Yankel Rosenthal
Estadio Yankel Rosenthal has a solidity that comes from being built for one purpose: to keep Club Deportivo Marathón at home. The stadium opened in 2010, and the club has played there ever since, notably hosting the Clausura 2018 Final where they held their nerve to win the title.
What makes the ground different from the identical ones down the road is the view. A giant beer bottle stands outside the main gate, a relic of sponsorship that has been there since the early days. The name "La Cueva del Monstruo" is painted on the wall, and the crowd fills it in when the team needs to keep a clean sheet.
There is no covered roof to block the sun, so the players have to deal with the glare. The pitch is well-maintained, but the surface can get hard under the tropical sun. The stadium has hosted international youth matches, and the temporary metallic grandstands were added last year to hold the extra fans. The line has barely moved since the club took ownership, and the ground remains the only place in the city where the fans can watch their team play without leaving the barrio.
