Grenzländstadion
The ground sits on the site of an old brickworks in Rheydt, a borough of Mönchengladbach that was still a town in its own right when it commissioned the build. Work ran from 1925 to 1927, and the official opening came on 17 June 1927.
From 1934 to 1945 it was the Хайнц-Брандс-Кампфбан, after an SA member; the original name returned after the war.
By then there was little to rename. Bombing destroyed the stadium in 1943, and a United States military hospital occupied the site for a time. The second official opening followed on 3 July 1960.
That reconstructed bowl held 30,000 in the middle of the last century, and its record crowd belongs not to football but to the Ландестурнфест, the regional gymnastics festival, which drew 25,000 in 1960.
Today those steps serve Боруссия Мёнхенгладбах II in the Regionalliga West and the club's women's side in the 2. Bundesliga.
