The Guzhenkou University City Sports Center sits on San Sha Lu in the Huangdao District. The venue was built for a cost of 370 million yuan.

The ground is immediately recognisable by the red running track that circles the pitch.

Qingdao West Coast FC played their first season here in China League One before securing promotion to the Chinese Super League . They have since hosted high-profile matches, including a Qingdao Derby against Qingdao Hainiu on March 30, 2024, which they won 1–0. The capacity is a subject of some debate, with World of Stadiums listing it at 20,000 while other sources suggest 27,000.

The atmosphere is shaped by the track. It is a multi-purpose facility, but the football matches draw the crowds. The venue has also welcomed Qingdao Red Lions FC in 2023 and currently hosts Qingdao Hainiu.
