Ships used to unload cargo here; now they unload football crowds. Hill Dickinson Stadium sits inside Bramley-Moore Dock. The club spent from 2021 to 2024 building on the dock itself, with Laing O'Rourke as main contractor, and the finished bowl opened in February 2025 with a construction bill running to around £750 million.

A friendly against Roma in August 2025 broke the ground in; the first competitive fixture followed a fortnight later against Brighton, once the Premier League season proper began. The steel-and-glass roof is fixed rather than retractable, and the club has pointed to that as the reason the noise inside carries the way it does — a stand-and-shout arrangement rather than the more sheltered, softer acoustics of newer bowls elsewhere.

The pitch itself runs on SISGrass Hybrid turf with an aeration system underneath it, a detail that matters more to groundstaff than to fans on matchday, but it marks the surface out from the standard turf Everton left behind. Beyond football, the stadium has already hosted rugby league, including a fixture in the 2025 Ashes series, and rugby union alongside its football calendar — a dock built for goods now handling several different codes of sport under one roof.
