On 21 August 2019, 4,297 people packed into Jack McLaughlan Oval for an FFA Cup round-of-16 fixture against Newcastle Jets, who won 5-1. No gate since 2003 has come close to it.
The rest of the calendar is quieter and more local. The ground hosts the HMRI Charity Shield each year, a fixture pitting the men's and women's NNSW league champions against one another, and it takes the reserve-grade finals for the NPL Northern NSW competition. Neither draws anything like the numbers the Jets tie did, but both keep the pitch in regular use outside the Eagles' own fixtures.
Vandalism has been a recurring problem — sponsor boxes around the ground were damaged in separate incidents in September 2021 and again in September 2023.
