Keflavíkurvöllur
Keflavíkurvöllur has changed its name more often than its address. It has traded sponsorship signage from Nettó to Sparisjóðurinn and back over the years — the ground itself, on Hringbraut in Keflavík, has not moved. What was replaced is the pitch: the natural turf went down again in October 2009, part of a wider refit that year, so the surface players use now is not the one that hosted the friendly against the Faroe Islands back in 1985.
The club that calls it home traces its use of the ground to 1956, under the old name UMFK before it became Keflavík ÍF — nearly seven decades of continuity on the same plot, even if the stands around it have been rebuilt more than once. Capacity has shrunk with those rebuilds: older references put the ground at over 5,000, while the current seated figure sits at 2,554, a reduction that says more about modern safety standards for a lower-division Icelandic ground than about any drop in interest.
Its one recent claim to a wider audience came in 2016, when UEFA sent its European Under-17 Championship here, a rare stretch where the Keflavík turf hosted teams from outside Iceland rather than the usual domestic fixtures.
