King Fahd Sports City Stadium

King Fahd Sports City Stadium sits in the Al Maizalah district of Riyadh. Its early years were defined by that international role: the 1989 FIFA World Youth Championship, including the final, all the way through the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup, when every match of the tournament, final included, was played here.

The ground has also carried Saudi club football at its highest level, staging the finals of the King Fahd Cup in 1992 and 1995 and the Asian Club Championship finals in 1995 and 2000. Its attendance record was set on 16 February 2000, when 67,000 turned out for a Saudi Cup meeting between Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli. More recently the stadium became a fixture on the Spanish and Italian football calendars, hosting the Supercopa de España semi-final and final in January 2022 — Real Madrid beat Athletic Club — and the Supercoppa Italiana final in January 2023, won by Milan over Inter.

Beyond football, the venue has hosted BTS for their first Saudi concert in October 2019, WWE's Crown Jewel later that same month, and the opening ceremony of the 2022 Saudi Games, with a performance from David Guetta. September 2017 marked a change of a different kind: women were permitted inside the stadium for events for the first time in the country's history.

Since December 2023 the ground has been closed for a rebuild tied to the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and the 2034 FIFA World Cup, with its running track set to disappear and the pitch to be lowered as capacity grows toward reopening.
