Kooi Stadion
Cambuur played its last match under the old roof in 2024, and within months the club had a new one across the district — steel and glass replacing the wooden stands of Cambuurstadion, which had stood since 1936. Kooi Stadion opened on 18 August 2024 in the Cambuursterhoek neighbourhood of Oud Oost, built to meet Eredivisie requirements the previous ground had struggled to satisfy.
The name itself is recent business, not history: a ten-year sponsorship deal with Kooi Camerabewaking, a surveillance-systems firm run by Drachten entrepreneur Pieter Kooi, with an option to extend another five years. Before that arrangement was signed, the ground carried the placeholder name Stadion 058, after the local dialling code — the kind of name a city gives a building while it waits to see who will pay for something better.
Capacity sits at around 15,000, roughly half as much again as the old Cambuurstadion could hold after its standing terraces were converted to seats in 1999. The pitch is natural grass, at Stadionplein 15.
