The club, Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur, moved to this site in 1984 after years of sharing the national stadium, transforming what was once a part-time venue into a permanent home. The stadium’s history stretches back further than its current configuration suggests, having hosted the Icelandic Cup Final as long ago as 1968 and even a UEFA Cup tie against Queen’s Park Rangers during the European campaign of 1984. The ground remains small, holding just over 2,700 spectators, but the proximity of the stands to the action ensures that the atmosphere remains tight and personal. The recent reorientation of the pitch from east to north-south and the addition of an extra stand signal a new chapter for the club, yet the core of the ground retains its old character.

KR-völlur in Reykjavík is a modest ground defined by its blue canopy and recent modernisation. The club moved here permanently in 1984, transforming a part-time site into a full-time home. The pitch is now artificial turf, installed to cope with the climate, while the main stand’s roof, branded with Landsbankinn, provides the backdrop for the 2,781 seats. The stadium has hosted European football and domestic finals, but its current identity is shaped by the white administration building and the new north-south pitch layout completed after renovations started in 2024.
